You Might Be A Closetted Homosexual

Thu Jul 27, 2006 at 01:20:16 PM PDT

One of the most famous comedic gimmicks is Jeff Foxworthy's You might be a redneck. Ken Blackwell's gay bashing run for Governor gave me an idea for a variation on that theme:

  • If you spend most of your time in church thinking about what gay people are doing...
  • If you think that homosexual couples being able to share benefits will ruin your marriage...
  • If you think that bashing queers will solve most of the Ohio's problems...
  • If your Republican campaign blog talks almost as much about the gay lifestyle as it does about lowering taxes...
  • If you've had an ernest converstation in a waffle house about people being born homosexual or it being a lifestyle choice...
  • If the only section of the book of Leviticus that you can remember is the part about the two guys "laying" together...

These are best delivered in a Georgia twang.

The Last Idealist - An Interview with Congressman Sherrod Brown

Thu Jul 06, 2006 at 07:34:29 AM PDT

(Cross-posted at the Ohio 2nd Blog)

Over a month ago I had reached out to the Sherrod Brown campaign about doing a one on one interview with Sherrod Brown. Up till now they had denied any requests to be interviewed by members of the Ohio blogosphere. Still, even though I was one of Sherrod Brown's strongest critics during the primary, Connie Schultz always made a point to thank me for being fair. This made me think that there was a slight chance that they would say yes. Surprisingly enough they did, and this Saturday they were able to fit some time in at their hotel in Columbus.

My Interview With Paul Hackett

Wed Feb 15, 2006 at 07:49:28 AM PDT

Yesterday I spent part of the morning talking to Paul Hackett in his Ford Truck outside of Hackett for Senate HQ. Here's the conversation:

Renee in Ohio has started a transcript: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

This has been a real tough one for me. I've been convering Paul online longer than anyone. It was obvious the first moment I heard him that he was something different. A spark that could lead to real  change in Ohio. It's hard to watch someone that I admire so much taking such a beating from his own team. It amazes me that as angry as he was at his Party, he still holds true to his faith in the process and the values that his Party stands for.

Down, but not out.
