Why I support Uncommitted for president...

There's been a veritable firestorm of candidate diaries here on Daily Kos, each arguing why Edwards is the most pure choice, or why Obama will bring true change, or how Clinton has what it takes to win in November. And there have been calls for peace and an end to the bitter infighting. But despite these calls, I feel compelled to write about the candidate I feel we should be supporting: Uncommitted. If you haven't spent the last month under a rock in a cave in an undisclosed location, then you're well aware of Bill O'Reilly's recent vendetta against Daily Kos. From mere insults to false accusations to outright slander, Bill-O has been throwing everything he's got against our community in a nationally-televised hissy-fit.
Ol' Loofah-boy can't seem to distinguish between front-page stories, diaries, and troll comments--calling DKos a "hate site" while citing hidden comments (perhaps we should call them "banished comments"?) written by trolls to back up his false assertions. Recently Kos decided to illustrate the absurdity of the whole situation by referencing a statement by a troll on the Maine Web Report and linking it to Senator Susan Collins in the same ridiculous manner that O'Reilly has been insinuating that troll posts on Kos represent the voice of Markos himself.

Call it vanity, call it curiosity, call it whatever, but on rare occasions I, for reasons unknown, take it upon myself to put on my biohazard suit and wade through the sea of vitriol and foamy-mouthed ranting otherwise known as the Free Republic to see what the right-wing nutjobs there have to say about us. Most of these freeper-diving expeditions leave me feeling like I need a shower to wash away the irrational hatred, but once in a long while I'll hit upon something useful...
Has your $1100 been well spent?

I was thinking today about the cost of the Iraq War. The mainstream media will run stories from time to time about the billions upon billions being approved for funding the war, but those numbers are so huge that it helps to bring them back to earth.
