i can hang on a little longer

well, i went over to democrats.org today after getting my latest visa bill.  i've been contributing via a democracy bond for a few months now, but what with the election going not too bad, and with one kid in college and another college bound, i figured maybe i'd cancel my bond for a few months, 'til after the holidays at least and maybe before things got hot in dc again.
i browsed on over to democrats.org and had trouble remembering my username, then couldn't remember my password, but it didn't matter, 'cause once i got into my account i couldn't for the life of me find the button that says "cancel my democracybond" (maybe, i told myself, it doesn't exist).  so, since i'd already overdosed on phone work at the office today and didn't feel like making one more call, i decided to put it off.  and you know what?  i'm glad i did.

while browsing the headlines in the evening paper, i noticed that pelosi's choice, jack murtha, was beaten out by steny hoyer.  no big deal, i told myself, hey! we're all on the same side, aren't we?  but then after dinner, tuning in to tweety, i learned that this could be the big dem split!  what, i said out loud, just a week after the election?  fortunately, keith olbermann reassured me that it was all being blown out of proportion, we really are on the same side.  i decided we were okay for at least another week.

then i learned that james carville was doing a hatchet job on howard.  for what?  i asked myself.  aren't we all democrats?  what could possibly be the motivation for striking his ax right down the middle of our post-election party?  i thought carville was supposed to be shrewd and smart (even if he is a little farther to the right than i would ever venture)!

then i called up kos on the laptop.  thereisnospoon's entry stood up and slapped me in the face.  i followed the links and learned about the taser attack at ucla.  i was immediately reminded of my sophomore year music class, when our ultracool music teacher stopped the class all of a sudden and asked our opinion of what had just happened at kent state.  we certainly didn't expect that discussion.  i was scared for us that day, i couldn't understand why somebody would shoot a college kid!

finally, i saw the diary about chris dodd bringing up habeas corpus (just in the nick of time) and that decided me - maybe i'll just keep that goddamm bond a little while longer.

we have not yet begun to fight, f
